Each person placed in a job by YWC is pre-screened to determine vocational goals, availability and experience.

YWC assists with community integration by removing barriers to employment.

Providing workshops that assist persons with disabilities to improve their work skills.

Job seekers interests and skills are identified and a job developer starts a search for a good job match.

When a job match has been found, YWC provides a job coach (at no cost to the employer) to teach the new employee their new job. The job coach also works with the employer to ensure that the employer’s expectations are being met by the new employee.

After the employee has completed their introductory period the job coach will continue to monitor performance and employer satisfaction.

Our employers have found that persons with disabilities are some of their best workers. Often having lower rates of absenteeism and a good work ethic.

Hiring a person with a disability does not result in higher Worker’s Compensation rates.

A hiring tax credit is available to businesses participating in the individual placement process. A qualified business may reduce their tax by a percentage of the wages paid to an employee with a disability. An employer can claim up to 50 percent of the qualified wages paid to the employee as a credit against tax imposed on enterprise zone income. The credit is based upon the lesser of the actual wage or 150 percent of minimum wage.
