Individual Placement page

If you are interested in being placed in a job at a local business, Your Work Connection (YWC) can assist you in reaching your goal through an Individual Placement (IP).  You will meet our Consumer Advocate at the Department of Rehabilitation (DOR) Supported Employment Orientation.  Our Advocate talks about supported employment and the jobs that are available at YWC.  Our Consumer Advocate will assist you with doing the following:

Attend an Employment Team Meeting.

Identify and address any known barriers to employment you might have.

Write a resume to reflect your skills, experience, and interests.

Introduce you to your Job Developer.

Develop a plan to describe your goals through the job development and placement process with target dates for achieving your goals.

When you have been placed in your job, we will provide a trained job coach who will assist you in learning all the duties and responsibilities of your new job.

Our job coaches are hired because they have work experience in the jobs that you might want.  They are also First Aid and CPR trained.

Your Job Coach and Consumer Advocate will be in contact with you on a regular basis.  Your participation in developing your plan for success is an important component of our service.  We value your input and want to design the services we provided to you around your work goals.

Our staff can make referrals to other service providers if you have needs that we cannot provide to you.  One example could be getting a drivers license.  We could refer you to DOR to provide drivers training assistance in order for you to obtain a drivers license.
